TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Beverly. I learned last week that the US government has 1.4 billion pounds of cheese stored in underground caves. I donโt know what to do with this information, so Iโve decided to share it with all of you.

Revenge Refinancing: Take Back Control
Weโve talked about revenge saving โ now itโs time for revenge refinancing.
Picture this: youโre at a car dealership, exhausted and ready to drive off. Then comes the โfinancing talk.โ Numbers fly, pressure builds, and you just want the keys. Dealers know that moment โ and they use it to their advantage. Their financing often comes with a higher rate than you deserve. They might promote a low car price but make up for it by marking up your loan.
Revenge refinancing flips the script. By refinancing your auto loan, you can lower your rate, reduce your payment, or pay off your car faster โ keeping more money in your pocket where it belongs.
How to start your revenge refinance:
Check your current rate on your loan statement or portal.
Get a quick quote โ see if Beverly Credit Union can beat it.
Apply online. Itโs fast and easy, and weโll handle the payoff.
At Beverly Credit Union, their allegiance is to their members, not a car dealer. That means low fixed rates, no hidden fees, and friendly local service.

Water Board Scores $4 Million in PFAS Settlement Windfall ๐ง
What started as a skeptical decision to fill out class-action paperwork has turned into a $4 million payday for the Salem and Beverly Water Supply Board. Executive Director Alan Taubert initially threw away the lawsuit notices before deciding to join a national case against major chemical companies over PFAS contamination. The checks started arriving this year โ $558,000 in May, $1.28 million in August, and $332,000 just last week โ as part of a multi-billion dollar settlement with 3M, DuPont, Tyco, and BASF.
The settlement addresses the costs water suppliers face in dealing with PFAS, those "forever chemicals" that have contaminated drinking water supplies nationwide. While Beverly and Salem's current PFAS levels are well below state standards, the board anticipates expensive facility upgrades if stricter EPA limits are adopted. Taubert says they haven't decided how to spend the windfall yet, with options including a backup pump station or a new granular activated carbon filtration system to tackle PFAS contamination.

PET OF THE WEEK

Meet Calleigh! Sheโs a two-year-old Siamese/Maine Coon mix and a mother of three, so sheโs a good companion to share a glass of wine with (or three). She is calm and sweet, chirps "hello" when you walk into the room, and isnโt skittish around people at all. Calleigh loves nuzzles, pats, and curling up by your side while you sip your coffee. She's good with kids and is happiest when she can come to you on her terms. Learn more and apply for adoption here.
