THE DIGEST
The Hero Next Door โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Beverlyโs own Amanda Neal was recently honored as a "Hero Among Us" at TD Garden for a truly life-saving act of kindness. After learning her 8-year-old neighbor, Beckett Connolly, needed a transplant, Amanda stepped up as a live donor last April at Lahey Hospital. Both are now thriving, and you can catch Amanda hitting the pavement for the Boston Marathon on April 20 to raise funds for Beth Israel Lahey and Dana-Farber. Click those links to support their recovery victory lap and help another family find their path forward.
Beverly Secures Climate Leader Status ๐๏ธ
Beverly is officially a certified Climate Leader Community, making our town eligible for up to $1.15 million in state grants to slash municipal emissions. State Representative Hannah Bowen and Senator Joan Lovely are cheering on the designation, which requires Beverly to commit to fossil-fuel-free municipal buildings and a "zero-emission-vehicle first" policy by 2050.
A Brighter Signal For New Moms ๐งก
Beverly Hospital is launching a vital safety initiative for new mothers by providing orange bracelets to patients who have recently given birth. This bright identifier signals to healthcare professionals and community members that a person is within the critical 12-week postpartum window, ensuring they receive prioritized, specialized care during a medical emergency. By streamlining the triage process, the hospital aims to treat potential complications โ such as high blood pressure or infection โ faster and more accurately. Please share this with any new moms you know!

Commuter Rail Updates ๐
Discounts this summer: Governor Healey just launched a $9 million transit initiative featuring free Fridays from June through August and half-priced monthly passes.
Shuttle this weekend: On the weekend of April 11-12, shuttle buses will replace service on the Newburyport/Rockport Line between North Station and Beverly.
Reminder: Through mid-May, the MBTA is suspending eight midday Newburyport/Rockport trains for track repairs, so check your departure times before heading to the station.
What else is buzzing ๐
๐ Leaf pickup occurs this week and next week on your trash day.
๐ข The main library will have a delayed opening this Friday and will open at 1 PM.
๐๏ธ The Friends' Book Sale runs from April 11 through April 18 at the Beverly Main Library, featuring book prices ranging from $0.50 to $2.00 and a $5 "Bag Day" on the final Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM.
๐ Craving a burger? Coastal cravings return the second week of April as Little Sister Burger reopens on Bearskin Neck. So head to Rockport for weekend service and those famous gluten-free onion rings.
๐งโ๐ณ Reminder: Best Chef, the signature fundraiser for Beverly Bootstraps, takes place this Friday and there are still some tickets available!
๐ No, Tom Brady isnโt calling you to ask for gift cards. Watch out for the latest, and most New England scam of all time.
PET OF THE WEEK

Meet London, the resilient sweetheart from Lynn! He is a diabetic and has FIV+, but is perfectly regulated with insulin and a specialized diet. London is famous for greeting strangers with chirps and affectionate leg rubs. His ideal home? A cozy indoor sanctuary where he can follow you from room to room. If you have a little extra room in your heart for a brave, friendly companion, learn more and apply for adoption here.
