Special State Primary for State Representative on April 15 🏢 

The primary for State Representative is held on April 15, which is also Tax Day. Three candidates are running: City Councilors Hannah Bowen and Todd Rotondo, both on the Democrat ballot, and Medley Long on the Republican ballot.

Polling hours are 7 AM - 8 PM on April 15 at the following locations:

• Ward 1, Precincts 1 & 2: Ayers-Ryal Side Elementary School, 40 Woodland Avenue

• Ward 2, Precincts 1 & 2: Beverly Public Library, Winter Street Entrance

• Ward 3, Precincts 1 & 2: McKeown School, 70 Balch Street

• Ward 4, Precincts 1 & 2: Cove Elementary School, 20 Eisenhower Avenue

• Ward 5, Precincts 1 & 2: North Beverly Elementary School, 48 Putnam Street

• Ward 6, Precincts 1 & 2: Centerville Elementary School, 17 Hull Street

The voter registration deadline is April 5, and the vote-by-mail application deadline is April 8.

The primary winners will face off in the special election for the Special State Essex 6th District Representative election on May 13.

Upcoming events and opportunities for local artists 🎨 

Do you want to install a public mural? Beverly’s Cultural District Partnership Committee is seeking a qualified artist to design and install a new mural on the exterior wall of a downtown Beverly business, measuring up to 12’10” x 49’10”, and it must stand up to the elements. The selected artist will be awarded a stipend of $4,000.

Questions are due by April 9, and applications are due by April 14. More information can be found here.

Arts Fest Exhibition 2025: If you are an artist who either (a) lives in Beverly (b) works in Beverly (c) maintains an artist studio in Beverly (d) are enrolled in a Beverly college/senior in a Beverly High School, you are eligible to apply to this juried exhibition!

Digital Submission / Application Due Date: Submission material due by Sunday, May 4 at noon.

What else is buzzing 🐝 

• 📚️ The Farms Branch is expected to reopen in March April May. Similar to young women waiting on their boyfriends to propose, they just need a bit more time.

• 🛥️ The flammable storage license for Beverly Port Marina, the city’s largest marina, is delayed due to a “high risk for hazardous flammable vapors and/or a major fuel leak.” The marina is replacing parts of the fuel system and plans to open the system in a few weeks.

• 🪪 Have you updated your license to a REAL ID yet? You have until May 7 if you’d like to board domestic flights.

• 🧼 Reminder to wash your hands after using a menu. The Mystery Urinator video went viral on two social media accounts over the last week (Pardon My Take, Friday Beers). He did not wash his hands (surprise, surprise) and immediately surfed the menu after relieving himself.
