IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BEVERLY CREDIT UNION

Credit Unions are different from banks, they are formed around a โ€œcommon bond,โ€ where members share a community and look out for one another.

We are no exception. Founded in 1952, Beverly Municipal Federal Credit Union was formed by a group of hard-working City of Beverly employees looking to save money and borrow at fair rates.

The Credit Union has grown tremendously since itโ€™s humble founding 74 years ago. What began with simple savings accounts and small loans has expanded into a full suite of financial services, including checking, mobile banking, auto and personal loans, home equity and mortgage loans and more.

Looking ahead to 2026, weโ€™re excited to introduce new services such as foreign currency purchasing for our members, and our Find a Vehicle virtual auto showroom. Later this year, youโ€™ll be able to use your debit card with barely the touch of your phone!

This new year will also bring a refreshed logo and branding โ€“ and throughout 2026, youโ€™ll begin seeing more of simply Beverly Credit Union. We are proud of our municipal heritage and federal charter, but we think our new shortened name and crisper logo will serve Beverly, and the entire North Shore, brightly for the next 74 years.

THE DIGEST

A Reminder to Clear Your Sidewalks โ„๏ธ

With the recent winter weather weโ€™ve seen, the City of Beverly sent out a reminder yesterday to clear the sidewalks in front of our homes. Jim Butler, Building Commissioner for the City of Beverly, stated โ€œPlease clear snow and ice as soon as possible after storms and continue to monitor conditions as temperatures change.โ€

The bad news? It could be pretty icy out there after freezing rain last night, and the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the state through 10 am. The good news? Weโ€™re expecting temperatures to rise as soon as Thursday with highs near 45 degrees by the weekend.

Mayor Cahill Sworn In for Historic Four-Year Term ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Mayor Mike Cahill made history on Monday as he was sworn in for the city's first-ever four-year mayoral term, a change approved by voters in 2023. In his inaugural address, the 64-year-old mayor acknowledged both national political tensions and local budget challenges, including a projected $4 million budget deficit that will require the city to find efficiencies and additional revenue sources. Despite these hurdles, Cahill emphasized his commitment to respectful leadership and outlined key priorities including maintaining city services, ensuring public safety, addressing housing affordability, and tackling climate change impacts.

Cahill concluded on an optimistic note, calling Beverly "one of the most desirable cities in America" and expressing confidence in the community's ability to meet future challenges.

Public Hearing on Beverlyโ€™s CDBG Application ๐Ÿ“ข

The City of Beverly will hold a public hearing on January 15, 2026, from 6:00โ€“7:30 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers to gather input on our FFY26 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application. This is an opportunity to help shape the Cityโ€™s Community Development Strategy and discuss projects that support low- and moderate-income residents. These activities may include housing rehabilitation, housing assistance, transportation services, business support, infrastructure projects, and/or public social services.
