๐ Here Comes The Sun, Beverly
Saying goodbye to a piece of Beverly history, a new president at Endicott College, and plenty of awesome events.

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Beverly. 150 years ago yesterday, Alexander Graham Bell made the first telephone call. In a lost interview shortly after he said, โ150 years from now, the great people of Beverly will use their cellular phones to read the Beverly Buzz and to order things from Amazon.โ

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BEVERLY CREDIT UNION
What Exactly Is a Credit Union?
If you drive past a credit union, you may think โ โoh, thatโs just another bank.โ While credit unions offer many of the same โbankโ services; checking accounts, loans, credit cards, and online banking โ their structure and mission are unique.
A credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its members. When you open an account at a credit union, youโre not just a customer, you become a member and part-owner of the institution.
Because credit unions are member-owned, their focus is on serving people rather than generating profits for Wall Street shareholders. Earnings are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and fewer fees.
Credit unions are also federally insured, just like banks. Deposits at credit unions are protected by the NCUA for up to $250,000 per depositor, providing the exact same level of security people expect from banks.
For many members, the biggest difference is personal service. Because credit unions are rooted in the community they serve, staff often know their members by name and take time to help them find solutions that fit their financial goals.
Years ago, Beverly was the hometown to many financial institutions, today only one calls Beverly itโs home โ and thatโs Beverly Credit Union, located at 139 Cabot Street.
Ready to become a member and not just a customer? Open an account with Beverly Credit Union today!
THE DIGEST
Farewell To A Nursing Landmark ๐ฅ
Beverly Hospital is prepping the wrecking ball for the former School of Nursing building. While the site has been vacant since 2018 and is showing its age, it once housed a rigorous three-year program where students lived, worked, and โ per 1950s rules โ needed a dentistโs note just to get in. From 1893 until its final class in 1972, the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing transformed thousands of young women into healthcare pros. Students lived and worked on-site, forming "sisterhoods" that lasted long after the dorms went quiet. There are no immediate plans for the cleared space yet, but weโre saying goodbye to a major piece of local history.

Checking The Boxes At BHS ๐
Beverly High varsity hockey coach Andy Scott isnโt just a leader on the ice; heโs a living testament to resilience, having set a goal to check off every life milestone after being paralyzed in high school. While the Panthersโ impressive season recently wrapped up with a hard-fought battle against Whitman-Hanson in the state tournament, Scottโs impact on his players clearly goes far beyond the final score. Between teaching and raising his two daughters, heโs proving that his "dream job" is all about the long game.
A New Chapter At Endicott College ๐
Endicott College has officially named Dr. Bryan Cain as its eighth president, effective this month. Before officially taking the permanent reins, Dr. Cain spent the last year steering the ship as Acting and Interim President. During his interim run, he oversaw record-breaking applications and major renovations to Tupper Manor and the Wylie Center. He also launched the new Innovation Complex and added a cool $11 million to the collegeโs first $75 million fundraising campaign since last May.
