THE DIGEST
Local business updates πΈοΈ π π
Three all-alcohol licenses were recently awarded to Beverly businesses via a lottery. Massachusetts limits the number of liquor licenses each community can issue, and Beverly has a limit of 90. With only three licenses available, the city decided a lottery would be a fair approach for all interested businesses. Four businesses participated: Takami, Delphineβs Kitchen, Mexa, and the CD Restaurant Group.
Unfortunately, Takami lost the lottery, but they have a chance to secure a beer-and-wine license after Delphineβs Kitchen and Mexa upgrade their current licenses. Liquor licenses are a limited commodity, and businesses can sell them. One is advertised in Beverly right now for $125,000.
The Stop & Shop building in North Beverly is for sale. (Note: This article is behind a paywall.)
Five stores have opened at MarketStreet Lynnfield: Vuori, Free People, Abercrombie & Fitch, Glowbar, and Faherty.
The Beverly Education Foundation awards $20,000 for 30 projects π
The Beverly Education Foundation recently awarded $20,000 in grants to fund 30 school projects. These funds will support various initiatives designed to enrich educational programs and benefit students and teachers across the district, like a decodable reader initiative at North Beverly Elementary School and horticulture at Hannah Elementary School. Additionally, the foundation disbursed $2,934 for Beverly High Schoolβs 1-1 Learning initiative for hardship cases and $2,000 for laptop subsidies. You can find the full list of funded activities here.

PICTURE OF THE WEEK

My wife and I picked up this new candle from Soy Much Brighter at Arts Fest. My only problem with the event was that I didnβt have enough money to buy all the awesome things I wanted. Iβm already excited for Arts Fest 2026!
