๐Ÿ Feeling Froggy

Beverly Hospital receives a new certification, a massive amphibian migration, and plenty of awesome events.

Good morning, Beverly. Weโ€™re three weeks away from the deadline to file your taxes. If you havenโ€™t bitten the bullet yet, itโ€™s time. Unless March Madness has you thinking you can hit a buzzer beater (which my accountant strongly advises against).

In todayโ€™s Beverly Buzz:

  • Life-Saving Care, Close to Home ๐Ÿฅ

  • The Great Beverly Frog Hop ๐Ÿธ

  • Spring Into Action At The Home Expo ๐ŸŒท

  • Upcoming events ๐Ÿ’ƒ ๐Ÿบ ๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŽฅ ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ ๐ŸŽค

Letโ€™s get to it.

THE DIGEST

Life-Saving Care, Close to Home ๐Ÿฅ

Beverly Hospital just earned its official stripes as a Primary Stroke Center from The Joint Commission, meaning high-quality, life-saving care is now certified right in our backyard. This gold-standard designation follows a rigorous onsite review and recognizes the hospitalโ€™s commitment to faster, more precise treatment when every second counts. Itโ€™s a huge win for local peace of mind.

The Great Beverly Frog Hop ๐Ÿธ

Last Monday nightโ€™s rain brought more than just puddles to Boyles Street; it sparked a massive amphibian migration that had wood frogs and spotted salamanders dodging traffic to reach their breeding grounds. Jessica Kagle of Kestrel Educational Adventures rallied a "crossing brigade" of ten volunteers, including local Scouts, to bucket nearly 100 critters to safety. If youโ€™re driving near Beverlyโ€™s wetlands on the next warm, rainy night, keep your eyes peeled for tiny travelers โ€” or better yet, grab a reflective vest and join the bucket brigade. You can learn more and join the mailing list here.

Spring Into Action At The Home Expo ๐ŸŒท

Spruce up your space this Saturday at the Beverly Cove Community Center for the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce Home Expo & Plant Sale. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., you can chat one-on-one with 20 local pros about everything from patio design to mortgage rates at โ€‹the Beverly Cove Community Center. Admission is free, and the best part is the on-site plant sale and lunch โ€” proceeds benefit the Kathyโ€™s Kids Foundation, supporting students with developmental disabilities right here on the North Shore.

MBTA Updates ๐Ÿš†

On Monday, March 30, a construction schedule will go into effect on the Newburyport/Rockport Line. This is to accommodate track improvement work and the replacement of 14,000 railroad ties and is scheduled to complete mid-May, 2026. Between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, 4 inbound and 4 outbound trains will be temporarily suspended. Temporarily suspended inbound trains: 1132 (10:53 am from Beverly) and 1150 (3:23 pm from Beverly). Temporarily suspended outbound trains: 125 (8:35 am to Newburyport), 1129 (9:35 am to Beverly), 39 (12:05 pm to Rockport), and 11:47am (2:05 pm to Beverly).

Also, shuttle buses will replace service on the Newburyport/Rockport line this weekend between North Station and Swampscott.

What else is buzzing ๐Ÿ

  • ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Skip the kitchen stress this Easter and pre-order a chilled, chef-prepared feast from Danversport by April 1 for an easy, elegant holiday spread at home. Let Danversport handle the cooking so you can focus on the new family drama.

  • โ„๏ธ We survived the ninth-snowiest winter on record with Boston seeing 60.9 inches of snow this winter โ€” far more stormy than the average winter of 37.7 inches for the city.

  • ๐Ÿšจ Donโ€™t let a fake traffic ticket ruin your Tuesday; Police warn that scammers are mailing fraudulent "Notice of Hearing" forms with QR codes, so verify any suspicious citations with the Beverly Police before scanning or paying.

  • โš ๏ธ Check your freezer before dinner: Trader Joeโ€™s and Kroger have expanded a massive recall on frozen fried rice and dumplings due to glass concerns, with more than 10 million pounds of frozen food being recalled in Massachusetts.

PET OF THE WEEK

Meet Pudding, a resilient soul who first came to us as a stray in 2019. This "big guy" is looking for a fresh start in a peaceful, quiet home where he can be the center of your world (no other pets, please!). Pudding is extra special; he sports a charming permanent head tilt and is FIV+, but he doesnโ€™t let that slow him down! Heโ€™s a gentle giant who prefers cozy naps over shelter commotion.
